Description and Requirements

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The Content Director/Editor-in-Chief of Market Insights and Intelligence is responsible for oversight of MI&I’s 10 newsletters and all of its management reports, books and market research surveys. The director will also work with the Conference Director on content of conferences and webinars. The director will also work with parent company WCG on editorial issues from time to time.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communication, or English language.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 10-plus years of business to business journalism/editing management experience.
  • 5-plus years business leadership experience and demonstrated acumen.
  • Team player to work with subordinates, peers, and superiors to produce exceptional publications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to supervise a large number of people.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Oversee the development and execution of MI&I’s 10 daily, weekly, monthly and bimonthly newsletters.
  • Oversee the development and execution of 50 management reports, 20 books and multiple market research surveys per year.
  • Work with the marketing and sales team to correctly convey the unique selling proposition of each product.
  • Work with the Conference Director to coordinate creation of content for physical conferences and webinars.
  • Consistently track the issues and intricacies of the various sectors of the clinical trials, pharmaceutical and medical device industries to enhance the quality of coverage in the publications.
  • Monitor competitive publications: what they are covering and how they are covering.
  • Provide education/training on writing, news, journalism, and assist in getting stories/newsletters, management reports, books and surveys produced well and on time.
  • Monitor all qualitative tends for various digital platforms and design various strategies to ensure optimal online editorial coverage and administer all digital platforms and participate in all business development plans.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct reports: Managing Editor and Research & Reports Manager. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: May require occasional travel.
