The expected base salary range for this position is $90,090 to $140,000. This salary range may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, education, and geographic location.

JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Director, Project Management is responsible for supporting hiring, onboarding, mentoring and ongoing development of project management staff which includes project managers and project specialists. This individual will also be responsible for participating in cross-department initiatives. Working with Project Management leadership, the AD PM will help to ensure projects are delivered on time, with quality, and within budget according to agreed scope of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Reporting to Project Management leadership on a regular basis regarding potential process improvements.
  • As needed, provide strategic oversight for assigned direct reports by supporting client facing meetings and facilitating resolution of risks or issues impacting project plans and timelines.
  • Support development of project management best practices and oversee the selection, onboarding, and training of new staff, as needed
  • Provide oversight to assigned project management staff assuring that projects are managed according to company best practices.
  • Support development and review of Project Management related SOPs, as well as related documents/templates
  • Work with Project Management leadership, and other Department Heads as applicable, to implement escalation processes that will improve the flow of communication related to delivery and escalation
  • Work with Project Management leadership to develop and ensure consistency across staff development plans, business processes, and risk mitigation
  • Provide recommendations for department growth based on business need to Project Management leadership
  • Provide leadership in Project Management, including but not limited to:
    • Supervise, manage, and develop project management staff.
    • Review and support implementation of the department and organization annual goals.
    • Provide oversight to the team, facilitating and leading team meetings and supporting the team to consistently deliver on-time and on-budget.
    • Support ongoing reviews of processes to ensure consistency across projects, including identification and implementation of solutions.
    • Act as a primary point of contact for issue escalation, management, mitigation and/or resolution for the team.
    • Onboarding support of new hires.
    • Ensure the systematic use of defined project management technology tools and processes by all staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS or equivalent experience required, and a minimum of 5 years related project management experience in life sciences.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: PMP preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience line managing and developing staff.
  • Knowledge of Drug and/or Device Study Development Processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate to a wide variety of audiences, including clients, internal project teams and senior management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead a technical team and define complex processes in workflows.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ICH and GCP guidelines as they apply to clinical studies and clinical data management.
  • Experience in developing and managing a budget.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
