Description and Requirements

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  
The Data Analyst will work with the WCG business units to enable them to discovery and explore new data-driven insights and ways to use data while ensuring the underlying data quality.  This role will work within the Data Science R&D and Data Engineering teams in developing new algorithm capabilities and improving the technology back-end, including the data warehouse, data architecture, front-end and statistical engines.  This role will also provide analytical and statistical expertise to the organization.  This role also supports the evolution of WCG’s other technology-related services.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or similar analytical field or a combination of education, skills and related experience; advanced degree in Statistics, Biostatics or similar analytical field preferred

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • 2+ years of experience in Data Science, Statistical Programming, Quantitative Analysis, Analytics or related field
  • Ability to analyze data, draw insights and prepare reports in a cohesive, intuitive and simplistic manner
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, SAS and R; advanced experience with multiple programming languages preferred
  • Significant Experience with querying and knowledge of SQL and No-SQL databases
  • Experience in analyzing data from business line data applications and data providers
  • Experience in visualizing data to stakeholders in a simple and concise manner through visualizations
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

  • Excels at the interface between data science and business insights to help extract greater value from data across the organization
  • Helps with data curation efforts to continuously track and improve data quality across the different systems and within the Knowledge Base
  • Works with the rest of the Data team and others across the organization to develop an analytical capabilities roadmap
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  Up to 10% on an as needed basis.
