JOB SUMMARY:
The Director, Data & Analytics Engineering is responsible for the implementation and adoption of the Analytics Platform. The accountabilities for the role range from contributing to architectural designs, coding, leading engineers, reviewing epics and features, managing cross disciplined teams, and mentoring talented engineers. This role will assist in the planning, estimation, and release processes and balance short- and long-term needs related to their teams’ requests. The Director will drive the team to complete multiple concurrent projects on time and within budget.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; in lieu of degree, candidates with 11+ years of relevant experience will be considered
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant technology certifications a plus
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of hands-on, progressive experience in Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering with a deep engineering background in a technology and/or cloud agnostic, agile development environment with hands on experience in Spark, Python and/or machine learning implementation
- 7+ years of experience leading distributed team(s) in different time zones and geographic regions
- 2+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Managing vendors, especially offshore providers
- Mentoring junior-level managers, technical leads, and individual contributors
- Leading technical team discussions regarding architectural implementation and problem solving
- Proven track record of rolling out and establishing scalable data and analytics platforms
- Demonstrated ability to make rapid and complex decisions that optimize across multiple, and at times, competing objectives
- Demonstrated results orientation, setting ambitious goals, removing obstacles, and holding self and others accountable for achieving results for customers and the business
- Demonstrated ability to operate and influence at the team level in a complex, matrixed environment with the ability to execute across internal stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical matters to technical and non-technical individuals, and to all levels of management
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Pharmaceutical and/or CRO industry experience a plus

- Provide team direction, technical management, mentoring and collaboration with other analytics and engineering managers across the organization
- Accountable for the implementation of a component(s) of the enterprise-wide data & analytics strategy and ensure analytics platform can support the growing needs of the business and stakeholders
- Maintain a single view of the common data required by different teams and subject areas to perform their responsibilities by creating and maintaining high quality data products
- Codify and evolve analytics standards that define how activity in proprietary and third-party platforms should be set up to ensure analytic data can be captured and collected to satisfy requirements and needs
- Implement and oversee analytics quality reporting and take proactive measures to improve operational quality.
- Work across all other technology groups to execute the roadmap that prioritizes the highest value critical initiatives and managing necessary trade-offs
- Analyze, scope, and prioritize feature deliverables and bug fixes
- Monitor and report team(s) SLAs and KPIs in order to gauge performance
- Instill a culture of accountability and operational excellence
- Support needs for staffing, resource and project planning, deliverable management, training and career development
- This role may on occasion may require evening and weekend work, based on business needs.

Expected annual base salary range: $113,000 to $158,000
