SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Our Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Services division focuses on ensuring human gene transfer clinical trials are conducted safely by administering IBCs for hundreds of hospitals and clinics around the world.

Our IBC Specialists provide administrative support to departmental staff, IBC members, and researchers to facilitate IBC review of clinical trials subject to certain regulations outlined by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The primary responsibility of the IBC Specialist is to work with researchers and external IBC members to organize and schedule IBC review meetings. The position requires strong organizational, tracking, and time management skills, as well as the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with diverse internal and external clients.

Please note: This role will require the selected candidate to come into the Puyallup, WA office 2-3 times per month. For this reason, we are only seeking candidates who live within a commutable distance to our office.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school and 2 years of office experience supporting a member of an executive management team, or

• 4 years related experience and/or training, or

• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel).

• Knowledge and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.

• Ability to prioritize work based on evolving internal and external needs.

• Ability to learn new computer applications and databases.

• Previous experience with Zoom, Doodle, or Alfresco is a plus

• Must not be debarred from participation in research.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collect required documentation from clients and process submissions for IBC review.

• Correspond with IBC members and clients to obtain their availability and schedule IBC review meetings.

• Distribute meeting information and prepare meeting agendas.

• Respond to and/or route client emails and phone calls in a cordial, professional manner.

• Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized files according to department standards.

• Serve as a training resource for colleagues.

• Other duties as assigned, which may occasionally be unrelated to the position described here.

• Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
