Description and Requirements

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Senior Accounting Specialist works in partnership with the Manager of Operational Accounting and other Accounting Staff in the WCG SSUA Site Network to execute accounting functions of the company and its affiliated organizations.  Responsibilities include: processing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and journal entries related to SSUA’s Site Network clinical research contracts. This position may also assist with Corporate accounts payable and preparation of financial reports.

·         Associate degree or higher in Accounting preferred.


  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts payable and/or receivable.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to process and system improvements.
  • Proactive in identifying efficiencies in workflow.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general accounting standards.
  • Experience using NetSuite and Excel as well as having an interest in learning the language of clinical trials and the associated processes is preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Invoice Site Network billable items.
  • Record and reconcile sponsor (customer) payments.
  • Maintain general oversight of the site (vendor) payment process.
  • Follow-up on any outstanding invoices.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction with both Sponsor/CRO’s and clinical research sites.
  • Perform general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Backup to affiliated organizations/departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
