JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Director of the Avoca Quality Consortium (AQC) is responsible for building strong client relationships and developing the AQC’s body of resources and thought leadership in clinical trial execution. The Senior Director develops deep relationships within Member organizations, meeting with clients to learn about their needs, provide solutions, and ensure they experience the full value of their membership. As a Subject Matter Expert in clinical research quality and compliance, the Senior Director helps create and deliver the AQC’s leading practices to Members and contributes to Member Engagement strategy.

The Senior Director works on a team of customer-oriented industry professionals who are skilled in relationship management and project management and have the desire to make a tangible impact on the Life Sciences industry.


  • Bachelor’s degree or professional health equivalent


  • None


  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in the Life Sciences, with a thorough understanding of the clinical trials process, including clinical outsourcing oversight, regulatory implications (ICH, FDA, EMA and other regulatory agencies) and the role of quality in clinical research

  • Client relationship management expertise, with experience in account management, partnerships, alliance management, or business development

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills

  • Excellent decision making/problem solving skills with a proven track record

  • Ability to embrace teamwork, establishing effective working relationships and building trust with customers and stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Self-driven, with a sense of urgency and the ability to work effectively and independently in a virtual company environment

  • Must be passionate about bringing solutions to the industry and have a desire to make a tangible difference for our clients

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Keep current on upcoming and new regulatory intelligence to ensure AQC documents/meetings are in alignment with current standards and regulations

  • Lead AQC workstreams and Member working groups focused on elevating quality in particular areas of clinical trial execution

  • Develop and review tools, templates, and leading practice documents for the AQC Knowledge Center

  • Oversee Aha! Community strategic planning, development and maintenance including engagement with Members via questions, blogs, etc.

  • Develop relationships with key executive contacts in identified member segments, highlighting the value of AQC membership to ensure clients maximize all benefits of the AQC and realize their ROI

  • Expand relationships with Members, listening to needs and providing solutions through ancillary Avoca services

  • Develop and deliver webinars on special industry topics that WCG Avoca addresses through the AQC; host Member events, sharing expertise and facilitating discussions; support preparation for annual AQC Summits

  • Gain insights about Member needs, challenges, and interests to inform the development of AQC services, tools, and whitepapers

  • Leverage engagement metrics across Member accounts and segments to support a metrics-based approach to relationship management

  • Support new Member onboarding activities

  • Drive participation in Avoca’s Member and industry-wide conferences

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
