The expected base salary range for this position is $124,200 to $207,500. This salary range may vary based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, education, and geographic location.

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Content Strategy is responsible for establishing and executing WCG’s strategic thought leadership agenda to elevate the company’s visibility, authority, and influence across the clinical research ecosystem. This hands-on role blends rigorous research, editorial excellence, and strategic storytelling to deliver high-quality insights that shape industry perception and support WCG’s commercial and brand objectives.

The Senior Director independently researches, writes, edits, and produces reports, articles, presentations, and multimedia narratives while partnering closely with Communications, Marketing, Product, and subject matter experts throughout the business. This leader transforms complex issues into clear, accessible, and persuasive narratives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The accountabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • THOUGHT LEADERSHIP STRATEGY & RESEARCH
    • Develop and execute a multi-year thought leadership strategy aligned with WCG goals.
    • Identify emerging topics and conduct research, interviews, and analyses.
    • Lead original research initiatives (surveys, benchmarking, interviews).
  • CONTENT CREATION & EDITORIAL LEADERSHIP
    • Write, edit, and produce white papers, podcasts, articles, POVs, presentations, reports.
    • Serve as editor-in-chief ensuring clarity, accuracy, and narrative cohesion.
    • Maintain an editorial calendar and ensure timely execution.
  • EXECUTIVE COMMUNICATIONS & SME ENGAGEMENT
    • Develop keynote narratives, speaking points, and presentation materials.
    • Conduct interviews and roundtables to surface insights.
    • Prepare executives for speaking engagements and media appearances.
  • MEDIA RELATIONS & PUBLIC INFLUENCE
    • Collaborate with Communications to shape media-ready narratives.
    • Provide insights and storylines for compelling pitches.
    • Support development of contributed articles and commentary.
  • INDUSTRY EVENTS & CONFERENCE STRATEGY
    • Develop abstracts, scripts, and presentation materials for conferences.
    • Moderate panels and discussions.
    • Identify opportunities that enhance WCG’s visibility.
  • MEASUREMENT & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
    • Define and track KPIs.
    • Analyze performance and adjust strategy.
    • Manage external resources when needed.
  • TEAM & STAKEHOLDER LEADERSHIP
    • Provide direction, feedback, and guidance to contributors.
    • Build collaborative relationships across teams.
    • Represent thought leadership priorities in cross-functional forums.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of experience in thought leadership, journalism, content strategy, or research communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Strong interviewing and research synthesis capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating with communications/PR teams.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into accessible narratives.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
